The brand recently introduced a couture collection of travel tumblers worthy of Marie Antoinette. The Primavera is a particularly gorgeous Rococo-inspired design I can’t get enough of. This beauty in scratch-resistant graphic wrap keeps drinks cold for up to 9 hours and hot for up to 3 hours and apparently, fits into most car cup holders. • Water bottling and transportation have been an integral part of human civilization since ancient times. However, bottled water as a commercial product gained popularity in the United Kingdom in 1622, with the bottling of Holy Well.
• The demand for bottled water increased significantly in the 17th and 18th centuries, mainly due to the growing trend of spa-going and water therapy among Europeans and American colonists.
• One of the earliest drinking waters to be bottled and marketed widely was ‘Bristol Water,’ taken from the spa at Hotwells. In 1724, Daniel Defoe recorded that more than 15 glasshouses existed in Bristol, surpassing the number in London, and a vast number of bottles were used to send Hotwell’s water all over the world.

The History of the Insulated Metal Water Bottle

The insulated metal water bottle, which has become a common item in our daily lives, has an interesting history.

It was first designed in 1896 by the English scientist Sir James Dewar. Dewar’s invention is based on a simple yet ingenious principle – he sealed one bottle inside another and removed the air between them, creating a vacuum that served as an excellent insulator. This design principle is still in use today, with the classic motto, “Keep hot liquids hot, cold liquids cold.” 

Interestingly, the insulated bottle was patented not by Dewar, but by two Germans: Reinhold Burger and Albert Aschenbrenner. They founded Thermos to manufacture the bottles. The word “thermos” is derived from the Greek word “them,” meaning hot. This invention has come a long way since its inception and has become an essential item for people who love to keep their drinks at the right temperature on the go.
