The arrival of spring brings with it a renewed sense of energy and excitement. With the increasing warmth and longer days, you need to take care of your skin and body. As the sun’s rays grow stronger, it’s crucial to protect your skin by using a cream with a minimum of SPF50, or if your skin is as pale as mine, you will opt for SPF100. Alongside this, it’s just as important to stay hydrated, particularly during the hot summer months. Adequate hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin and overall well-being, so be sure to drink enough water and other hydrating fluids throughout the day. Experts advise drinking 1.2 litres a day which translates to eight glasses of water.

I know, that as a fellow vintage maven, it’s only natural that you don’t want to compromise your immaculately styled vintage outfit by carrying a dull-looking water bottle. At the same time, you don’t want to contribute to plastic waste by buying single-use plastic water bottles. And that’s where my favourite water bottle brand, My Bougie Bottle comes to the rescue!

The Environmental Impact of Using a Reusable Water Bottle

The impact of single-use plastic water bottles on the environment is undeniable. Each year, billions of plastic bottles are produced, most of which end up in landfills or our oceans. These bottles take hundreds of years to decompose, leaching harmful chemicals into the soil and water along the way.

In contrast, reusable water bottles offer a much more eco-friendly alternative. By investing in a durable, high-quality bottle, you can significantly reduce your consumption of single-use plastics. Not only will this cut down on waste, but it will also save you money in the long run by eliminating the need to constantly purchase packaged beverages. It’s a win-win if you ask me.

Say goodbye to bland water bottles and hello to My Bougie Bottle.

This American brand’s innovative creations seamlessly blend style with functionality, captivating the hearts of customers worldwide, including me.

You may think my review is biased because the founder, Juliet Pearson, is a close friend of mine. I want to emphasize that I have high standards when it comes to recommending products to my readers. Even if I have a close personal relationship with the creator or founder of a brand, I will never endorse a product that doesn’t meet my expectations or that I don’t personally love. This is a promise I made to myself when I started this blog in 2012, and my close friends can attest to my integrity on this matter.

For nearly 20 years, I have known Juliet, and during that time, she has been rescuing chickens and cows, adopting dogs from all over the world, donating money to animal shelters, and being a vocal advocate for environmental causes. This former fashion model is also incredibly stylish. So, it was no surprise when I learned that she had started a sustainable brand with Mother Earth in mind. Juliet has always despised plastic and has lectured everyone, including me, about its harmful effects on our oceans. In 2020, she decided to create the Bougie brand because she was tired of people making excuses for using single-use water bottles instead of carrying a reusable one.

Each Bougie water bottle is precisely crafted with love and attention to detail, making it a true work of art. The collection of accessories, such as the water bottle sling, cleaning brush with bamboo handle, and ice stick tray, is brilliant and practical, making it easy to switch from single-use bottles to refillable ones.

My Bougie Tumbler for Marie Antoinette

If a stylish Bougie water bottle is not enough for you and you rather sip from a tumbler, you are in luck. The brand recently introduced a couture collection of travel tumblers worthy of Marie Antoinette. The Primavera is a particularly gorgeous Rococo-inspired design I can’t get enough of. This beauty in scratch-resistant graphic wrap keeps drinks cold for up to 9 hours and hot for up to 3 hours and apparently, fits into most car cup holders. I don’t own a car because I’m the worst driver on the planet, so I can’t test it for you, but what I can tell you is that this 22oz. tumbler is slightly bigger than a Venti Starbucks coffee size.

The Evolution of Hydration: A Brief History of the Water Bottle

In today’s world, it’s hard to imagine a day without our trusty water bottles by our side. But have you ever stopped to think about the history of this essential hydration accessory?

  • Water bottling and transportation have been an integral part of human civilization since ancient times. However, bottled water as a commercial product gained popularity in the United Kingdom in 1622, with the bottling of Holy Well.
  • The demand for bottled water increased significantly in the 17th and 18th centuries, mainly due to the growing trend of spa-going and water therapy among Europeans and American colonists.
  • One of the earliest drinking waters to be bottled and marketed widely was ‘Bristol Water,’ taken from the spa at Hotwells. In 1724, Daniel Defoe recorded that more than 15 glasshouses existed in Bristol, surpassing the number in London, and a vast number of bottles were used to send Hotwell’s water all over the world.
  • The bottled spa water was believed to possess therapeutic properties, and early drinkers of these mineral springs thought that bathing or drinking the water could help cure many common ailments. Jackson’s Spa in Boston bottled and sold the first commercially distributed water in America in 1767.
  • The invention of plastic in the 20th century revolutionized the water bottle industry. Lightweight, durable, and affordable, plastic bottles quickly became the go-to choice for consumers.
  • With the rise of environmental awareness, there was a growing push for sustainable water bottle options. Stainless steel, glass, and reusable plastic bottles gained popularity as consumers sought eco-friendly alternatives to disposable plastic.
  • With a growing emphasis on health and wellness, hydration has never been more important.
  • In conclusion, the evolution of the water bottle has been a journey of innovation and sustainability. From ancient vessels to modern marvels, the history of the water bottle is a testament to human ingenuity and the need for practical solutions. So, next time you take a sip from your water bottle, remember the rich history behind this essential accessory.

The History of the Insulated Metal Water Bottle

The insulated metal water bottle, which has become a common item in our daily lives, has an interesting history.

It was first designed in 1896 by the English scientist Sir James Dewar. Dewar’s invention is based on a simple yet ingenious principle – he sealed one bottle inside another and removed the air between them, creating a vacuum that served as an excellent insulator. This design principle is still in use today, with the classic motto, “Keep hot liquids hot, cold liquids cold.”

Interestingly, the insulated bottle was patented not by Dewar, but by two Germans: Reinhold Burger and Albert Aschenbrenner. They founded Thermos to manufacture the bottles. The word “thermos” is derived from the Greek word “them,” meaning hot. This invention has come a long way since its inception and has become an essential item for people who love to keep their drinks at the right temperature on the go.
