You know, I can easily spend £450 on a La Perla lingerie set without the slightest hesitation yet be reluctant to spend the exact same amount of money on shoes without having thought it through over and over again. It may seem odd or sound obscene but the explanation for it is quite simple; I honestly believe that what’s underneath counts more. The feeling that wearing beautiful, luxurious lingerie gives me, can be counted in two words – sexy and powerful. Even though I’m the only one who gets to see it (with the exception of the significant other) I know it’s there and that’s all that really matters! I could easily write an entire paragraph on the importance of stockings and garter belts that I wear even underneath my jeans, but I’d rather focus on the top 7 lingerie brands that every woman should get familiar with (if she shares my passion for luxury that is).
Top 7 Lingerie brands. What’s underneath counts!
1) La Perla
Ada Masotti opened La Perla corset boutique, the beacon of boudoir glamour and elegance in Bologna in 1954. Masotti’s motto was: “Never compromise on quality and innovation” and that’s what the company is still all about. The moment you enter La Perla shop you will be surrounded by glamour, romance and elegance. I can’t get enough of the soft silk lingerie decorated with lace and embroidery. I have never managed to leave their shop without at least one “little” purchase. It’s beyond my control.
Chantal Thomass launched her first ready to wear brand Ter et Bantine in the late 60s and Brigitte Bardot was one of her most faithful fans. In the 70s she introduced lingerie to her fashion shows and treated it more like outer garment than anything else. In 1975 she started Chantal Thomass label. For me her lingerie is a pure seduction! I love, love her website which you have to discover for yourself. I always stop at her boutique when I’m in Paris because sadly she doesn’t stock in the UK except hosieries, which you can buy at Harrods, and playful umbrellas, which I’ve seen at one of my favourite shops in London Fortnum & Mason!
Those of you who love couture should definitely take a look at this famous couture lingerie brand. It is indeed everything that couture stands for including the price. Go ahead click the “add to the basket” button and go through the transaction! I dare you:)
Creator of The most perfect bra in the world but sadly Dior decided to discontinue their lingerie collections. Too bad because the brand would have made the top of the list. I’m really happy, that I stocked up on their stunning lingerie when I had the chance…Below is my favourite set, which I bought in Harrods few years ago.
Nobody does a leopard print like Dolce and Gabbana and that’s all you need to know to be lured to buy their lingerie, which is incredibly comfortable and definitely the brand to go for if you wish to unleash your inner animal!
6) Myla London
Myla was launched in 2000 by Charlotte Semler and Nina Hampson. It’s very well made lingerie, that’s reasonably priced. I would describe the brand and their collections as romantic and sensual.
Agent Provocateur was founded in 1994 by Joseph Corre, the son of Vivienne Westwood, and his now ex-wife Serena Reese. It was sold few years ago to Garry Hogarth. The collections of AP are either a hit or a complete miss depending on the season. I really like their bodies and own quite a few of them, probably a whole drawer. It’s fun and provocateur. They used to have really amazing ad campaigns and window displays, up until few years ago…
I’m very curious what is Your number 1 lingerie brand!
